Gifted Progress Reports

Your child’s progress toward the goals identified on their Gifted Educational Plan (EP) for this school year has been monitored and reported on through a variety of sources including but not limited to our Schoology course, consultations, small groups and teacher input. Guidance has been offered on many topics, such as organizing time, strategies to communicate with teachers, and ideas of how to effectively work in a group. We have also focused on strengthening their affective development by learning to lessen daily stressors, increase self-confidence, and advocate for themselves with teachers and peers.

A copy of your students Gifted Progress Reports will be available to view after May 28th, 2023. in Home Access Center (HAC) under Student Attachments.

As a reminder, gifted consult is offered for all gifted students. High School gifted resources continue to provide students with the opportunities to make progress towards their gifted goals or any other needs they may have. Reminders are sent out regularly to schedule meetings, complete the monthly surveys and to participate in Middle School Lunch Bunch.

Middle School Students: I encourage you to use the gifted resources available to you on our Schoology Course and participate in Lunch Bunches to ensure an optimal match between individual potential and academic/affective outcomes in middle school and beyond.  Lunch Bunch is held every Friday in the Media Center Café’, bring food, a friend and have lots of fun!

PARENTS OF RISING 9th GRADERS: HIGH SCHOOL PROGRESSION PLANS

Your child’s gifted Educational Plan for High School has been updated to ensure a continuum of services as they progress to High School. The EP team reviewed your child’s previous plan, academic data and input given to draft and finalize an updated plan which will be in place until graduation. Please note your child’s academic needs will be met by the courses they are registered to take in high school.  Consultative services offer the opportunity for our gifted students to find the optimal match between their high potential, academic achievement, and affective development.

A copy of your child’s Gifted Educational Plan has been uploaded into Home Access Center (HAC) under Student Attachments.

Please note:

The GIFTED EP refers to your child’s Educational Plan. Page one explains present levels of performance, the strengths of your child and the need for gifted services, the second page outlines goals  which focus on the strengths and needs of the gifted learner.  The last portion is the explanation of how services will be facilitated. If after reviewing your child’s EP or at any time within the duration period the gifted EP can be amended if needed, as it is a fluid document.

If you have any questions about high school Gifted services, please feel free to review our district webpage at; http://www.stjohns.k12.fl.us/ese/gifted/

Have a wonderful summer!
