Parents of high achieving students often contact us with questions and concerns regarding how to best meet the academic needs of their talented children.  We welcome these inquiries and will do our best to provide appropriate responses.  We also suggest you familiarize yourself with these additional resources.  And, if you are aware of any worthwhile organizations or resources that you believe should be included here, please let us know.

Belin-Blank Center The Belin-Blank Center provides information to parents about educational programming needs. Their Family Counseling Program provides services for families of gifted children; the Center also offers workshops and helps parents understand how they can advocate for their gifted children.

Calendar for Gifted A calendar for parents of gifted children age 2 and up.

Career Planning for the Gifted Career planning for gifted and talented youth.  Addresses all ages and issues including multipotentiality.

Council for Exceptional Children The Council for Exceptional Children is an international organization committed to improving educational opportunities for exceptional children, including the gifted.

Free Spirit Publishing Excellent source for reading materials and resource materials to help understand your gifted child.

Gifted Children Monthly An online newsletter with articles and tips for parents of gifted children.

Handbook for Parents of Florida’s Students Who are Gifted: An Introduction to Gifted Education
Covers everything from understanding the Educational Plan to resources for helping your gifted child succeed.

Hoagie’s Gifted Education for Parents Resources for parents including home schooling, programs, identification, and many other relevant topics.

Home Schooling Gifted Kids – Math Resources Links to math programs, products, and web sites.

How Parents Can Support Gifted Children A comprehensive article by expert Linda Silverman. This is a “must read” for parents of gifted children.

National Association for Gifted Children The NAGC provides legislative updates and other information parents should know.

Supporting Emotional Needs of the Gifted SENG focuses on the adults (parents) in the lives of high achieving children and provides information on identification of gifted, guidance, and effective educational methods.

The Association for the Gifted TAG is a specialized division of the Council for Exceptional Children dealing specifically with gifted.
