    2019-2020 FIRE PREVENTION POSTER CONTEST

     

    Grade Level 1-2 (Fire Marshal)               Grade Level 3-4 (Fire Chief)

     

    We need four (4) posters to represent each school, two (2) from each category of Fire Marshal and Fire Chief.  This year’s theme is “Not Every Hero Wears a Cape; Plan & Practice Your Escape!” The posters that win in the school competition will be picked up on Friday, October 25TH, 2019 by the fire department for final judging.  Members of the St. Augustine Fire Department will judge to pick the overall winners.

     

    ON THE BACK OF EACH POSTER SHOULD BE THE LETTER A OR B AND THE NAME OF THE SCHOOL AND TEACHER.

    The letter A designates Grades 1 and 2.

    The letter B designates Grades 3 and 4.

    DO NOT LIST THE CHILDS NAME.

     

    Example:     B – Ketterlinus Elementary – Ms. Brown

    RULES

    1. Poster must be on standard size poster paper (22 X 28) in order to qualify.
    2. Poster must be done by the student only.
    3. Any student whose parent is a St. Augustine firefighter is not eligible.
    4. Poster may be drawn, pasted, painted or colored.
    5. The date for awards will be on **Friday, November 1, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the St. Augustine Fire Dept., Station #1, 101 Malaga Street.

     

    AWARDS

    1. The two (2) overall winners will be named Fire Marshal and Fire Chief for one year.
    2. Overall winners will receive a trophy.
    3. Overall winning posters will be displayed in the Main Fire Station for one year.
    4. The two (2) overall winners’ names will be placed on a permanent plaque at the Main Fire Station.
    5. The two (2) overall winners will spend the awards morning at the Fire Station concluding with lunch at Chick-fil-A.

We had so much fun with Diamond Del!  What a cool experience!

Thank you to Mrs. Valla for being our Mystery Reader today!  We enjoyed the book “Make Way for Ducklings” by Robert McCloskey.  We loved hearing about your job as a brain trainer and giving us some helpful strategies on how to cope with intense feelings!

Thank you for coming to Open House!  Student’s were SO proud to show off their classroom! Congratulations to Alsea for winning our estimation jar!  The total number of Hershey kisses were 175 – she guessed 156!

  • Reading and math tests will be going home today. in red folders.  They both require a lot of contain a lot of rigor. These tests will prepare our students for Third Grade. Just so you are aware the scale for Ready Reading and Pearson Math tests are different than a “normal” grading scale. 70 & above=M, 69-40=P, Below 40=I.   Just a reminder to ask your child comprehension questions about the book they’re reading at home as well as reviewing math homework.  We are working very hard in class on being awesome reading detectives and building stamina. With these tests it is super important that your child go back into the passage to find text evidence and follow directions carefully. Thank you for your support!

  • Please go over the Lesson 1 Math Test and our Independent Practice reading test with your child that went home in red folders today.
