Weekly Learnings November 18-22

This week is fully packed with lots of Learning and fun with our Thanksgiving Feast on Friday at 10:00!

In Reading we will be working on text to text connections and practicing reading our parts for The Night Before Thanksgiving story project.
RI.1.9: Identify basic similarities in and differences between two texts on the same topic (e.g., in illustrations, descriptions, or procedures).

In Writing we are continuing to work on the parts of a great narrative story.
W.1.3- Write narratives in which they recount two or more appropriately sequenced events include some details regarding what happened, use temporal words to signal event order, and provide some sense of closure.

In Phonics we are working on r consonant clusters, (br, cr, dr, fr, gr, pr, tr) and the short u word families. Continue to study your spelling words and remember the spelling test will be on Thursday so that Friday we can enjoy our class feast!

In math we are going to focus on : 1.OA.2 Solve word problems that call for addition of three whole numbers whose sum is less than or equal to 20, e.g., by using objects, drawings, and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.

The past several weeks and this week we have learned the first grade social studies standards below.
SS.1.A.3.1 Use terms related to time to sequentially order events that have occurred in school, home, or community.
SS.1.A.3.2 Create a timeline based on the student’s life or school events, using primary sources.
SS.1.A.2.1 Understand history tells the story of people and events of other times and places.
SS.1.A.2.2 Compare life now with life in the past.
SS.1.A.2.3 Identify celebrations and national holidays as a way of remembering and honoring the heroism and achievements of the people, events, and our nation’s ethnic heritage.
SS.1.A.2.4 Identify people from the past who have shown character ideals and principles including honesty, courage, and responsibility.
