9"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><a href=\"http:\/\/teachers.stjohns.k12.fl.us\/saxon-m\/files\/2016\/09\/Cassidy.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-581\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-581 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/teachers.stjohns.k12.fl.us\/saxon-m\/files\/2016\/09\/Cassidy-162x300.jpg\" alt=\"Cassidy\" width=\"162\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Happy 8th Birthday to Cassidy!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"> <a href=\"http:\/\/teachers.stjohns.k12.fl.us\/saxon-m\/files\/2016\/09\/Reading.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-582\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-582 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/teachers.stjohns.k12.fl.us\/saxon-m\/files\/2016\/09\/Reading-215x300.jpg\" alt=\"Reading\" width=\"215\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/span>Readers are LEADERS!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>What LEARNING and GROWING went on in room 217 this week:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/teachers.stjohns.k12.fl.us\/saxon-m\/files\/2016\/08\/academics.jpeg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-560\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-560\" src=\"http:\/\/teachers.stjohns.k12.fl.us\/saxon-m\/files\/2016\/08\/academics.jpeg\" alt=\"academics\" width=\"288\" height=\"175\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Academics<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">ELA:\u00a0 We are just about finished reading <em>Snot Stew<\/em> by Bill Wallace.\u00a0 Students are really enjoying reading the story from KiKi the cat&#8217;s point of view.\u00a0 Our reading block also focused on sorting, recognizing, and spelling long i words.\u00a0 Lastly, we took our Wordly Wise lesson 2 test.\u00a0 Overall, the students did significantly better on this test than the first.\u00a0 HOORAY FOR GROWTH!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Writing:\u00a0 Students made lists of friends and then wrote a story about one of them.\u00a0 They also had the opportunity to get out their red pen (the best part!) to edit their writing to add more sight and sound words.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Math:\u00a0 Numbers patterns were a focus this week.\u00a0 Students were challenged to find 100 more\/less or ten more\/less with numbers over 100.\u00a0 This built on our previous knowledge from Chapter 1 &#8211;
