X 5 times a week = 100 minutes minutes a week;<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">Student B reads 4 min. X 5 times a week = 20 minutes.<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">Step 2:\u00a0 Multiply minutes a week X 4 times each month.<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">Student A reads 400 minutes a month;<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">Student B reads 80 minutes a month.<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">Step 3:\u00a0 Multiply minutes a month X 9 months.<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">Student A reads 3,600 minutes in a school year;<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">Student B reads 720 min. in a school year.<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">Student A practices reading the equivalent of 10 whole school days a year.<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">Student B gets the equivalent of only 2 school days of reading practice.<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">By the end of 6th grade if Student A and Student B maintain these same reading habits, Student A will have read the equivalent of 60 whole school days, while Student B will have read the equivalent of only 12 school days.\u00a0 One would expect the gap of information retained will have widened considerably and so, undoubtedly, will school performance.\u00a0 How do you think Student B will feel about him\/herself as a student?<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">Some questions to ponder:<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">Which student would you expect to read better?<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">Which student would you expect to know more?<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">Which student would you expect to write better?<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">Which student would you expect to have a better vocabulary?<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">Which student would you expect to be more successful in school\u2026and in life?<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\"><\/div>\n<div align=\"center\"><\/div>\n<div align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"rg_ic rg_i\" src=\"https:\/\/encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com\/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRzJ9WwQGQOOi2hDMXV9tOkM9uAblqbn03PET1F_vnocMUSXM5RTw:thewordsofencouragement.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/fb417d7d92643c48ac3826d7d2064679.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for happy life images\" \/><\/div>\n<div align=\"center\"><\/div>\n<div align=\"center\"><\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<p><strong>Homework for Life<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Find something useful to do for someone else.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Find something to admire in someone you don\u2019t like.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><b>Find something to celebrate, to laugh about.<\/b><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Meet the teacher &#8211; August 9th 8:00 &#8211; 11:00!\u00a0 I can&#8217;t wait to see all your beautiful faces!
