Welcome to Mrs. Reynolds’
5th Grade Class

My name is Brooke Reynolds and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with your child this school year. Education is my passion and I hope to instill in each of my students a love for learning. My goal is to create life long learners in each of my fifth graders

Education has been a part of my life for the last 20 years. I have taught 3rd grade, 4th grade, 6th and 8th grade Science, and 6-8th Science Technology. For 4 1/2 years I had the opportunity to work with teachers around the United States providing professional development in the areas of math, science, reading, writing, social studies, technology, classroom management, differentiated instruction and best practices in the classroom. During this time I worked with district and state supervisors to focus on what standards and skills are the main focus on standardized test including the FCAT (now FSA). This experience has guided me back to classroom, so that I can enhance my students’ critical thinking and problem solving skills and focus on each student as an individual learner. The past 10 years I have had the opportunity to teach 5th grade at Durbin Creek and I am very excited about meeting and working with my upcoming 5th grade students.

This past school year I was chosen to be part of the Northrop Grumman Foundation Teacher Academy, this program chose 24 teachers from the US and 1 from Australia to learn more about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and how to get our students ready for the many STEM fields available in the future. Over the summer I spent a week in Baltimore working with engineers at the Northrop Grumman facility and this facility focused mainly on microchip and radar technology. I just finished up a 2-week internship at the St. Augustine Northrop Grumman facility where I worked with engineers and computer technicians. I was able to see how engineers work in teams and problem solve. I also saw all the construction of the E2-D and its many features. All of these experiences will help me incorporate the STEM focus in our class this year as well as expose students to the engineering process through math and science.

My family, Joe, Gabby and Ashton have been a part of the Durbin Creek family for the last 13 years. Gabby is in college studying to be a radiology technologist and my son Ashton is in 8th grade. We also have chocolate lab named Bo. I look forward to meeting each of you and learning more about your families and how we can partner in creating a learning rich environment for each of your 5th graders.

Please feel free to contact me via email at any time @ [email protected]   I am very excited and looking forward to my new journey this year with your child.
