Hope you all enjoyed a wonderful long weekend. A few friendly reminders as we start Week 4 of school.\u00a0 The focus of our program is to teach students alternative behaviors to replace challenging ones, with data collected to monitor their progress. The ultimate aim of the Bridge Program at GRMS is to gradually reintegrate students into the general education setting with minimal support.<\/p><p>We follow the same standards and curriculum as general education students. There has been a few instances over the past few weeks where students are saying that they don&#8217;t need to do work because Bridge Classes don&#8217;t count. Please remind your child that, yes they do! We work very hard with each student to ensure they can achieve academic success. Together we can empower them with the tools they need to be successful in class and in life.\u00a0<\/p><p>Communication and Kindness will be this weeks focus. We have noticed an increase in cursing, racial comments and overall meanness to others in class. We fully understand that students make mistakes and things tend to slip out when angry and\/or frustrated. We will continue to work on replacement behavior, strategies and plans to help your child in their areas of need. However, please remind students that the Student Code of Conduct applies to all students at GRMS. If a child cannot be re-directed or doesn&#8217;t take a break and continues being verbally aggressive towards another student or adult they will be in violation of the Code of Conduct. It is our goal, as a team, to help our students learn the tools they need to make good choices. We will continue to work with each student and their individual needs. We kindly ask that, as being part of that team, to please talk to your child and remind them to be kind to others, we never know what someone is going through.
