Students will look at different parts of world history including economics, geography, politics, and religion\/philosophy. Students will study methods of historical inquiry and primary and secondary historical documents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"color: #003366\"><strong>U.S. HISTORY:<\/strong><\/span> The primary content of this class will focus on the study of American history from the Exploration and Colonization period to the Reconstruction Period following the Civil War. Students will be exposed to the historical, geographic, political, economic, and sociological events which influenced the development of the United States and the resulting impact on world history. Students will be able to make connections between cause and effect in historical events, students will also have the opportunity to explore ideas and events which occurred after Reconstruction.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"color: #333333\"><span style=\"color: #e37171\"><strong>CIVIS:<\/strong><\/span> Civic education <\/span>is essential in the development of informed citizenry who are equipped to participate in civic life and preserve a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. This class will focus on the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;color: #333399\">Students will study primary source documents to understand the philosophical underpinnings of the American Republic and the root cause of American exceptionalism.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;color: #333399\">Students will be able to compare the success of the United States and the success or failure of other nations\u2019 governing philosophies to evaluate their past, present and likely future effects.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;color: #333399\">Students will have a sense of civic pride and participate regularly in all levels of government.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;color: #333399\">Students will be able to reflect upon United States civic history, so they understand their rights and responsibilities as citizens, including the process of advocating properly with government officials.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-large;font-family: terminal, monaco, monospace;color: #99ccff\">-SOCIAL STUDIES VOCABULARY-<\/span><\/h2>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-size: x-large;font-family: terminal, monaco, monospace;color: #e37171\">WHY DO WE NEED TO STUDY VOCABULARY?? <\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">There are <strong>a lot<\/strong> of good reasons why we should try to improve our vocabulary. When we have a good vocabulary, we not only sound smarter, but <em>we are smarter.<\/em> We can learn more things.
