{"id":142,"date":"2014-10-13T14:23:53","date_gmt":"2014-10-13T18:23:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/teachers.stjohns.k12.fl.us\/racano-j\/?page_id=142"},"modified":"2025-07-29T15:22:57","modified_gmt":"2025-07-29T19:22:57","slug":"bridge","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/teachers.stjohns.k12.fl.us\/racano-j\/bridge\/","title":{"rendered":"The Bridge Program"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-page\" data-elementor-id=\"142\" class=\"elementor elementor-142\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-2717e93 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"2717e93\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-73d9404\" data-id=\"73d9404\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8cef095 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8cef095\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Gamble Rogers Middle School Behavior Unit~ The Bridge Program<\/strong><\/p><p>A Behavior Unit provides daily personal assistance, monitoring and\/or intervention for ESE students who require interventions that are significantly greater in intensity and duration compared to what can be provided with less restrictive programming.\u00a0 The Behavior Unit is staffed with a team that is trained in crisis management techniques and that works closely with a district behavior specialist and a district mental health counselor.\u00a0 Difficult issues with students are addressed in real time while maintaining instruction for the other students within the Behavior Unit.\u00a0 Individualized programming usually includes frequent performance feedback to the student and feedback to the guardian.\u00a0 All Behavior Units are self-contained \u2013 meaning the programming is available throughout the entire school day.\u00a0<\/p><p><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-346d606d )\">When a student demonstrates success within the Behavior Unit, the IEP Team meets to determine steps for re-entering the student into a less restrictive setting.\u00a0 <\/span><strong style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-346d606d )\">The goal of every Behavior Unit is for students to achieve stability and return fully to the less restrictive programming that is available in their home-zoned schools.<\/strong><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-346d606d )\">\u00a0 When a student with a disability has persistent difficulties (socially, emotionally &amp; behaviorally) and the current placement has exhausted available resources, then the IEP Team meets to consider the pros and cons of placement within a Behavior Unit.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><strong>What is a UNIT?<\/strong><\/p><ul><li class=\"dc_mn b_promtxt\">the state of being united or joined as a whole:\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 &#8220;European unity&#8221; \u00b7 &#8220;their leaders called for unity between opposing factions<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>What is a BRIDGE?<\/strong><\/p><ul class=\"b_vList b_divsec b_bullet\"><li data-priority=\"\"><div class=\"dc_mn b_promtxt\">something that is intended to reconcile or form a connection between two things:<\/div><div><span class=\"b_demoteText b_sectxt\" data-applinkhookid=\"demoteText\">&#8220;a committee that was formed to create a bridge between rival parties&#8221;<\/span><\/div><\/li><\/ul><div>\u00a0<\/div><div><p>The Bridge Program at GRMS<span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-346d606d )\"> supports students that have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) that includes specific goals in the Social\/Emotional Behavior, Independent Functioning and\/or Communication domains. Many students also benefit from a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) and counseling services.<\/span><\/p><p>The focus of our program is to teach students alternative behaviors to replace challenging ones, with data collected to monitor their progress.
