Dear Rawlings family,

I’m excited to be your child’s art teacher this year! I love creating art and cannot wait to teach your 3rd, 4th, and 5th grader several techniques for artmaking using different media!

Art Education Objectives:

Students will participate in learning about different art skills and techniques, art history, and cultural aspects of artwork. Art lessons will help the student develop their motor skills, language development, decision making, visual learning, inventiveness, and critical and creative thinking skills.

Goals:

  • Explore different media
  • Develop familiarity with several artists
  • Develop awareness of art in society
  • Expand abstract reasoning skills
  • Refine communication skills

Elementary Art Instruction and Assessment:

  • State Standards are used for lesson content
  • Art classes are allotted 40 minutes once per week
  • Students will have three transitions: Instruction, Studio, and Clean-up time
  • Rubrics are used for artwork assignments
  • Students are graded on how well they follow instructions, craftsmanship, and skill level development
  • Grades will be posted on TAC
  • Student progress can be checked by making and appointment with me

Sincerely,

Ms. Armstrong
