Hello students and families! My name is Alana Hayes and I will be your child’s 5th grade teacher this year! I am a St. Augustine native, as well as a 2016 Flagler College graduate. I began teaching 5th grade in Gainesville, Florida in 2017. Halfway through my first year, I was hired to take over a 5th grade position at Hartley Elementary School, specializing in English Language Arts (ELA) and Social Studies. I am ecstatic to be teaching in this school district where it all began for me! This is my 6th year teaching 5th grade! My main goal this year is to guide all students to become accountable, successful, creative, and independent young adults who are prepared for middle school.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending free time with my fiancé, Michael, and our three dogs, Hank, Scooby, and Duke! This upcoming November, we will be getting married and going from Ms. Hayes to MRS. Alexander! We enjoy any outdoor activity such as boating, fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking, and riding in our Jeep down the beach! We are also travelers who have been to Europe, the British Virgin Islands, Bahamas, and have traveled from coast to coast in the US!
