Fresh from Florida competition

Congratulations to St. Johns Academy of Culinary Arts team Alphas for winning second place in this year’s Fresh from Florida Student Cookoff!! Team leader Chloe Smith lead her team, including (in alphabetical order) Kylie Thompson, Debaka Williams, and Dae’Shaud Woodard in preparing their menu of lemon-pepper chicken wrap with homemade buttermilk ranch dressing, tomatoes, cucumbers, and strawberry tart for dessert. Their dish was chosen from 13 regional team dishes and selected to compete against 2 other teams at Florida State College at Jacksonville.

The objective of the Fresh from Florida Student Cookoff competition challenges student teams to develop a menu that is kid-friendly, nutritionally balanced, and can be served in a school cafeteria, incorporating local fresh Florida-grown produce. It must be cost-effective to a school budget, realistic in terms of production, and delicious! We are so proud of our St. Johns Technical High School Culinary Academy team!!
