Mrs. Diviney’s Notes…
Welcome to Mrs. Diviney’s class! I am so excited for the 2019-2020 school year. This page will contain important events and reminders throughout the year. Please be sure to check this page weekly.
I am looking forward to the last half of the school year with my kiddos. We are going to work extra hard this semester to prepare for Third Grade. Please continue to encourage reading AR books and testing daily and practicing math facts (Math Facts in a Flash). Thank you for your unconditional support!
Please turn in the Traveling Zoo slip and money by next Tuesday, January 21st. Thank you!
Change for the last semester, Ready tests will NOT be read to the students. Our reading this year contain a lot of rigor. These tests will prepare our students for Third Grade. Just so you are aware the scale for Ready Reading are different than a “normal” grading scale. 70 & above=M, 69-40=P, Below 40=I. Just a reminder to ask your child comprehension questions about the book they’re reading at home as well as reviewing math homework. We are working very hard in class on being awesome reading detectives and building stamina. With these tests it is super important that your child go back into the passage to find text evidence and follow directions carefully. Thank you for your support!
F.I.S.H Folders….Family Involvement Starts Here! These yellow folders will be sent home each Monday along with a class newsletter (Diviney’s Daily), a Weekly Report, and any tests papers. Please sign the weekly report and return in the F.I.S.H. folder. You may KEEP any test papers. Diviney’s Daily will have your child’s weekly reading log on the back, so please do not discard. Reading Logs will be due each Friday. Folders & reports should be returned by Wednesday.
My class will have snack time daily. If you would like for your child to have snack please send in a healthy and non messy snack. Anything with the least amount of crumbs would be best so we can avoid pests. Water bottles are also allowed in class. They just need to be kept in the student’s cubby. Thanks!
Each month a class calendar will be sent home. The January calendar has been sent home. This calendar is for to keep so you are aware of upcoming tests and important events. The calendar is also posted on the Diviney’s Class Calendar section of my website.
We will be working hard this year in class on recalling math facts, in a timely manner. Recalling the facts in a timely manner is very important. At the end of each quarter your child will take a test on both operations. They will be given 2 minutes to answer 25 problems. The program Math Facts in a Flash is a great program to help in this area. Please practice math facts at home each week. Thank you for your support!
