Red, yellow, blue, making art using the Elephants of Art with you.

Hello, my VRA Picassos!

This is your virtual art Classroom!

Welcome to online learning

Your Award Winning teacher

Lauren Bayliss

Professeur D'Art

Ms. Bayliss has been teaching art for over 10 years, in the public and private sectors.  This is her fifth year at Valley Ridge Academy.  She truly believes that ever child is an artist!

Week 8: Grades K, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5

Black and white create the highest contrast of values because they show extreme dark against extreme light (or extreme light against extreme dark.). Any dark color against any light color has high contrast, too. Use contrast to create drama and command attention in a work of art

Directions:

  • COLOR the ALBINO Elephant as realistic as possible                                                                       * Hint- ALBINO means WHITE
  • Do nothing UNLESS you want to.  Enjoy your last week before summer vacation!

* I am saving all of your Online Learning Art and creating a Virtual ART Gallery that will air on the Morning News during the last week of school.  So keep sending me pictures of your creations on Schoology at: Lauren Bayliss or on Instagram at VRAPicassos!

Week 7: Grades K, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5

Self-portrait:

Created when the artist draws, photographs, paints, or sculpts a picture of themselves.  Many artists drew and painted self-portraits.  This is a great thing to do when you don’t know what to draw!

While you watch the video, create your own self-portrait.  Use as many details as you can!  Remember draw BIG!  I only want to see your portraits from the shoulders up.  You can pause the video at anytime and change your LINES, erase, or draw over it with a new line.

Supplies:

  • Paper
  •  Something to draw with (pencil, marker, crayon, etc.)
  • A mirror that you can see your entire face in

Week 6: Grades K, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5

Week 6: Play with your food and make art!

No really, I mean it!  Let’s take healthy foods and create some Art, and then EAT THEM UP!

We will be making a Still-Life.  A Still life is a picture of non-moving objects.  You can paint, draw, sculpt, or even PHOTOGRAPH a still-life.  Use any cell phone to take a picture of your Art and send it to me in Schoology to Lauren Bayliss.  Here are some Still life Art videos to check out by Artist Bill Wurtzel.
