Retesting Guidelines

Retesting Policy/Grade Recovery K-2

• All retesting should be done with an alternative assessment

• Students scoring below 85% qualify for retesting

• The highest grade earned will be entered into the grade book.

• Reteaching of the material must occur before retesting

• Retesting will continue until mastery of the standard

• (First score will be used for RTI and can be placed in the comment section

of your grade book)

LPA Assessment Policy

Kindergarten through Second

Our goal at Liberty Pines Academy is to ensure that every student is successful at meeting the standards

set for their grade level by the state of Florida. To ensure this success, LPA has developed an assessment

policy. Assessments are used to determine whether or not a student is making progress and to what

extent. This policy allows for every student to have the opportunity for success if they were unsuccessful

on their first attempt.

For monitoring progress of students the following letters are issued:

• M–Meeting the standards (85 – 100%)

• P–Progressing towards the standard (70 – 84%)

• I–Improvement is needed (0 – 69%)

On an assessment, if a student does not score an M on their first attempt of the standard being tested,

they will be eligible for retesting. Teachers will reteach and retest throughout the year. These

multiple exposures to the topic will help to ensure that our students are given multiple opportunities to

meet the standards.

A student’s grade will be adjusted based on the higher of the original assessment or the retest grade.

The change in their grade will be represented on their current quarter report card. For example, if a

student does not show that he/she has met the standard during the first quarter, but does show the

standard has been met during the third quarter, then he/she will receive an M for the third quarter. The

first quarter grade will not be changed. Again, it is our goal that all students will have the opportunity to

be successful in meeting the standards.

If you have further questions about this policy, please check with your child’s teacher.
