If you are concerned about your child’s speech and/ or language skills, speak with his/her teacher first to see if it’s having an impact on their academics. If there is, the teacher will contact us and we will initiate a speech/language referral that will begin with a screening. If non-developmental sound errors are noted during the screening, a formal evaluation is then recommended. If weaknesses with language (expressive/receptive communication skills) are noted by the teacher, the student will then be referred to the Multi-Tiered System of Support/Response to Intervention (MTSS/RTI) team for further review.
If you are a parent with a child already receiving speech/language therapy and have any questions or concerns regarding your child, please email or call your child’s SLP and she will get back to you as soon as possible.
