From The Director, Mr. Rauh:
To the Parent(s) of Current Band Members: The new school year is underway and we are experiencing the joy of making music. Thank you for your support, and particularly for encouraging your son/daughter to continue their study of music. This investment of time, effort and energy will produce lifelong dividends. Throughout the year you will be receiving communications from our Music Department concerning upcoming concerts and other pertinent information. Evidence continues to focus on the arts (music) as a vital component in the positive growth of every child. For years we have pointed to the music students as those who have demonstrated a special talent. However, based on extended studies we now know it is the very process of learning music that develops the artistic mind and brings forth the creative potential in all young people. For this reason, continued membership in our musical family is strongly encouraged. It is a privilege to have your son/daughter as a valued musician in our organization. Thank you for your support of music education at Patriot Oaks Academy. You play an important role in everything we do. Welcome to our new school year! Sincerely, Lance Rauh BAND FEE This is an important message regarding your student’s BAND FEE. The Band Fee is a share that all students participating in band programs throughout St. Johns County are required to pay. The fee covers purchases of music, uniforms, instruments, emergency instrument repairs, class supplies, educational materials, awards, busses, clinics and professional organization fees, such as membership in the Florida Bandmasters Association or Florida School Music Association. The fee per student is $150. This fee is a one-time, annual fee that is collected in the fall and covers most academic band-related expenses for the year. ( NOTE: This excludes student method books or anything else which when purchased are then personal property) Checks should be made out to Patriot Oaks Academy Band Boosters Association. If you have any questions about the Band Fee, methods of payment or need financial assistance, please feel free to contact Mr. Rauh at Lance.Rauh@stjohns.k12.fl.us. No student will be denied the opportunity to participate in the Patriot Oaks Academy Band due to financial hardship.
