Partial Product Multiplication Video (2 digit x 2 digit)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ht6pdcuHvsg┬áThis video shows the gist of the strategy. I teach students to draw an arrow when they multiply. When they finish they should have a “bow tie.” I also teach students to line up the partial products using place value and add them all together at once. This is in their notes.

AR Bookfinder: You can use this site to check the level of your child’s independent reading book. Just select parent, carefully type in the title of the book (it has to be exact) and get the book level. Book levels are given in decimal format, with the first number being the grade level. For example, 4.1 is the beginning of 4th grade, 4.5 is the middle of 4th grade, 4.9 is the end of 4th grade, etc. You want your child’s independent reading book to be comfortable. They should be able to read almost every word. You can use their iReady level as a guide. You can also ask them to read a page of the book. If they come to 5 words, on the page, that they have to sound out, the book is too difficult and not a good fit. This is called the “5-finger rule.”
