This is my 16th year teaching, and my fifth year teaching third grade. I’m so excited for this new adventure at Freedom Crossing Academy. The past 11 years I have been teaching at Durbin Creek Elementary, while there I taught kindergarten, first grade, second grade, and third grade. Before Durbin Creek I taught kindergarten in Duval County for three years.
I was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa and am a Midwest girl at heart. My family moved to Jacksonville and I went to high school at Mandarin High School. After that I went to the University of Florida and graduated from the College of Education Proteach program.
I love being a teacher, it is my true passion. I enjoy working with kids and pushing beyond teaching just the “basics”. My goal is to meet the needs of children on an individual basis. I try to create these independent, strong, bright leaders by the end of the year. It is amazing to watch them progress and change throughout the year. As I have been teaching I have been working to further my certification. I am now endorsed to teach ESOL and Gifted students, I also have my Reading Endorsement.
I am looking forward to a wonderful year. If you ever have any questions please don’t hesitate to email me.
