Hello students and parents! I am looking forward to working with you this year and getting to know each of you. My favorite part of each school year (in addition to new school supplies, of course) is getting to enjoy English with all of you. Before we jump in, here’s a little bit about me…
Teaching: This school year will be my sixth year as a Creekside Knight. Before teaching at Creekside, I taught in the westside of Duval County.
Education: I graduated from the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program at Vanguard High School, in Ocala, Fl (where I was also a Knight). After high school, I attended UNF and obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature with a minor in Professional Education. SWOOP!
Why teaching? Why English?: One thing many people do not know about me is I switched my major to Pre-Med at one point in college, but I knew in my heart that I was meant to be a teacher. By being an English teacher, I get to pass on my love of literature to my students while also getting to know so many wonderful, unique people each year.
Hobbies: When I am not teaching, planning, grading, or reading, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. My husband (also an educator) and I enjoy working on our home and grilling. I also spend a lot of time snuggling with my cute dog, Bonita, while watching my favorite shows (PLL, Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and more!) or Titans games on Sundays. Two years ago, my husband and I welcomed our first child into the famliy, Leona. She already loves to read, of course. We had an other little Padgett, Landon, join the family last October.
