Classroom Information: Algebra Honors

Please Use Algebra nation often for review and reinforcement and for help if you are absent.

We are using the new Florida Standards which are extremely challenging.  It is ok to make mistakes when you are first attempting rigorous problems. The goal is to learn from our mistakes.

Grading: Tests and Quizzes – 80%
Classwork and Homework- 20%

Daily Activities will follow the following pattern on most days:

  • Review Homework
  • Class Starter or Quiz
  • Lesson 1
  • Classwork Lesson 1
  • Lesson 2
  • Lesson 2 classwork
  • Begin homework if you have time

Makeup Work: When you are absent it is your responsibility to turn in the homework that you missed to the appropriate basket. If you need more help with the assignment, check the tutorials provided with the online text.
I will be available for after school help from 2:00 to 3:00 on Tuesday.

Helpful Hints:

  • Fill out your planner on Monday
  • Use pencil and show your work!
  • Take good notes. All examples and hints on the board are notes.
  • Do your classwork.

Reminder:  You must pass the state End of Course Exam (EOC) to receive credit for the course. The End of Course Exam will also count as 30% of the student’s final score.

Daily work will be assigned and may need to be finished at home.
Students must have two sharpened pencils and their binder each day. Coming to class prepared and ready to learn is Goal #1. From there, I am going to teach them how to take notes. We will be using Cornell style notes. I have attached a powerpoint below going over some helpful hints for note taking and the Cornell Note method.
