I am so excited to be YOUR child’s teacher. I began my journey in St. Johns County as a 1st grader at Julington Creek Elementary. Throughout my years as a student in our county, I had amazing teachers who inspired me to want to be a teacher. They built into my heart a LOVE for learning and leading. This is my 15th year teaching elementary school. I have taught K, 1st, 3rd, and 4th grades and have loved every age!
My husband and I have two boys. Zach, our oldest, is a sophmore at Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL and Luke, our youngest, is a senior at Bartram Trail High School. We have a cute dog, named Zoe that we all spoil. I love to READ books, spend time at the beach, and shop on Amazon! 🙂
Our classroom is a pirate themed environment where students (called “Pirates”) sail the seas of learning, stealing only the knowledge in books, and giving back to others. Each year my crew amazes me with their creative ideas that make a difference in the lives of children and adults here and around the world! My crew even inspired me to go to Honduras twice to teach at a conference there and spend time working with students. Families look for opportunities where we can help others, then the crew creates a plan we put into action as World Changers!
I value open communication between school and home. I will keep in constant communication with you concerning the events on board our “ship of learning” each week. I believe that learning can be an enjoyable journey and we can grow and develop wherever we choose to place our focus. I hope that capturing pictures of our adventures and posting them on the blog will help you feel a part of our pirate community and also help you celebrate and encourage your child as they learn and grow. Partnership is key to helping this be an amazing year for your little pirate!
I look forward to this school year with my new crew. I want to influence them in a way that fosters strong academic growth, helps them develop a growth mindset, and inspires a life-long desire to change the world!
Ready, set, SAIL!
