Please subscribe to my blog for automatic email updates and gentle reminders about class/school activities.
Please check your child’s planner every day. He/she will be expected to read a minimum of 25 minutes per night. There will also be a weekly comprehension passage and questions that will be passed out on Mondays and due on Thursdays. However, THE MOST IMPORTANT habit your child can develop for academic success is to set aside a consistent time for independent reading every day. They should have a book on their level from our Media Center at all times. Once they have finished reading it, they will be expected to take the AR quiz before checking out another book. Students will be able to earn a ticket for every AR quiz passed at 80% accuracy or higher.
Reading Rewards for Logging Nightly Reading
Your child will now be required to log their reading time online via Reading Rewards. The link to the website is on the right side of my homepage. –>
I have attached a picture of the choice board. They are to choose one box each night and write the response in the comments section. Their login is the same as their i-Ready login. We will practice this in class. Please make sure to check your email (possibly junk folder) for emails from Reading Rewards in order to validate your child’s reading log. This is super important because it tells me that you know what your child is reading and what they are responding. It also keeps them accountable if they know you have to validate it and that I am checking it each morning. I appreciate your support.
