We will have a small Valentines day celebration the last 20 minutes of the day on Thursday, February 14th in class. Students may bring in Valentines for classmates. I will send a class roster home with kids this week (we have 19 students total).
As a reminder, there is no school Friday, February 15th due to teacher inservice. There is no school Monday, February 18th due to Presidents’ Day. Enjoy that 4-day weekend!
I can’t believe it’s January already! This year feels as if it is flying by! I hope everyone had a fun/relaxing holiday break! I was able to complete a lot of projects around the house thanks to the beautiful weather we had. It felt good to get a lot done! I am eager for kids to return and to get back into our groove. We have so many fun topics to cover the second half of the year!
As a reminder, please check HAC regularly! I have encouraged your child to log on with you often to check progress in learning. I am working hard to have grades uploaded by Friday afternoon each week.
We will no longer be taking our multiplication timed tests online, but rather once a week on paper. Please see our most current newsletter for details. At this point in the school year, I recommend that students work on their multiplication facts 10 minutes each night! There are many apps and websites available for students to study their facts for free, flash cards can be found at the dollar store or free to print online, and there’s always the good old fashioned writing them out! I love the triangular flash cards as they can be used to practice both multiplication and division! I will do some digging and see if I can find an electronic copy to post on our new student resources tab.
As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Wishing you all the best in 2019!
We are excited about our upcoming Veterans Celebration on Thursday, November 8th. Our class will have a part to play in the program this year. Our 5th grade Chorus is presenting a program about the colors of the American flag. During this performance, our class will represent the color RED so make sure to send your student to school in a solid colored RED shirt that day. Thanks for your help with making this celebration extra special!

Welcome back to school! This is my FAVORITE time of year:) I am excited to begin a fantastic year of learning with your child! In August, we will establish a growth mindset community. What does it mean to be a learner in Mrs. G’s class? We will establish class rules, routines and procedures. We will learn what collaboration means and what collaboration looks like when working with partners and groups. We will also establish good reading habits and set goals to reach 30 minutes of independent reading and writing stamina. Third grade is a big year for responsibility! Students will record homework and upcoming quick checks/tests in their planner every day! Please check planners daily for this information.
