2015 Florida First Responder Appreciation Week
During the first week in January several second and third grade classes supported the 2015 Florida First Responder Appreciation Week (Jan 5th-10th). The students created artwork that will be kept in the office and given to visiting Police, Firefighters and Paramedics in appreciation for their help and hard work. These cards created during art class, allowed the students to use their art skills to benefit others within our community!  Common Core Standard  SS.2.C.2.4 Identify ways citizens can make a positive contribution to their community.

Ancient City Mosaic Project
In honor of St. Augustine celebrating their 450th birthday, students have an opportunity to participate in the Ancient City Mosaic Project. All entries must be original and of the artists own concept. Any medium is welcome ( no three-dimensional or mixed media will be accepted.) Canvases must be 6”x*8’. Stop by the Art room for your canvas and entry form. All artwork must be submitted to the Red Sable located at 107 King Street, St Augustine by 5.pm on Wednesday March 4th. There are a limited number of canvases available on a first come first serve basis.   Click here to view the flyer promoting the anniversary.

Our school wide collaborative project is under way!
Thanks to a generous grant from the Ponte Vedra Public Education Foundation (PVPEF), each VRA student will have an opportunity to add to our commemorative  community mural . Students have started to create their clay tiles. The tiles will eventually be combined into a permanent art installation within the school. We will have a tile creation night  in the near future for any middle school student who didn’t have art this year and would like to create a tile. For more information, or to volunteer with this project please contact Mrs. Frericks at [email protected].
